What are the cartridges made of?

Answer: Normally they are made of 316L stainless steel; however, we can make them out of several other metals.

What is the cartridges size and how are they constructed?

Answer: The cartridges are 36 to 40 inches long and 2 ½ inches in diameter. They are constructed of a cindered powered metal and then centered onto one or more wire mesh support screens, both front and back.

What is the differential pressure that the cartridge can withstand?

Answer: The cartridge can withstand a pressure drop across the elements of 150 psid in both directions

How is the filter able to backwash in just 5 seconds?

Answer: By increasing the pressure to greater than twice the normal inlet pressure and thereby, increasing the downward flow rate by 10 times the normal rate, the elements cannot handle the flow and will build up over pressure within the entire element. The elements will start cleaning at the bottom and when the pressure can not be relived, will move up the cartridge until it has cleaned the entire element. This will take place within 5 seconds and then the pressure and volume of liquid will have been expended.

Are most of the filters you build duplex systems?

Answer: Yes, with a duplex system, you have no off line time and if necessary can put both vessels on line to increase the liquid through-put.

How often does the filter backwash?

Answer: This will depend on the solids loading, but we would normally like to see a run time of 2 or more hours. By having the filters backwash often we are able to keep the number of elements and the vessel size small. This will save money on both cost and price.

What is the volume of the backwash?

Answer: The volume is normally between 50 & 100 gallons, depending on the vessel size.
